Saudi Arabian Embassy, embassies of Muslim countries in Vietnam celebrate Eid Al-Fitr

Addressing the event, Saudi Arabian Ambassador Mohammed Ismaeil A. Dahlwy said the festival, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, shares similarities with Vietnam’s traditional New Year festival or Tet.

The celebration in Hanoi is a good opportunity for Saudi Arabia to introduce the images of itself and of other Arab and Muslim countries to Vietnamese friends.

In the holiday’s spirit of tolerance, the diplomat called on the countries of the world, including Arab ones, to resolve their differences by peaceful means and through dialogues and together bring prosperity and peace to the people.

The ambassadors of Algeria, Egypt, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Iran among others, took the occasion to talk about the culture and customs of their respective countries on Eid Al-Fitr.

The event also featured culinary delights of participating Arab and Muslim nations, the henna art, and circus acts.

Overseas Vietnamese spread Tet fine traditions

Tran Van Tuan has pursued calligraphy for nearly 20 years. For him, calligraphy is not just a hobby but a passion. Learning calligraphy not only helps him to better understand the culture and history but also is a way to relax and purify his soul, he said. With the desire to preserve the cultural identity of Vietnam, and help young generations learn about their homeland, Tuan overcame difficulties to pursue calligraphy. The image of Tuan – a man wearing a traditional Vietnamese “ao dai”, writing calligraphic works – has become so familiar to visitors at Tet fairs of Vietnamese in Australia over the past decade. First Vietnamese artist invited to showcase at Biennale Venice

Paolo De Grandis, president of PDG Arte Communications, a representative of the 60th Biennale Venice organisation, sent a letter to Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung to invite Hieu to take part in the event. “We have jointly organised 127 exhibitions at the Venice Biennal with the presence of numerous countries for the first time, including Andorra, Azerbaijan, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Jamaica, Morocco, Monaco, Estonia, Latvia, Ukraine, Singapore and Ecuador,” Grandis wrote in the invitation letter. “With more than 30 years of experience collaborating with the Venice Biennale, we believe it will be an important milestone to have Vietnam’s first presence after the event’s 129 years of history, represented by talented artist Henry Le.” The letter also confirms that Hieu was the first Vietnamese artist and the first Asian artist to organise a solo exhibition in Arsenale Nord, Venice in 2021.
